Getting Started

How is Novion different from other fitness apps?

Three things no other app combines: you compete with lifters at your weight class and experience level instead of the whole internet, you snap meals with AI instead of typing every food in, and every workout, meal, and streak earns XP toward tiers, all the way to Star.

Is Novion really free to start?

Yes. Starter includes meal tracking, workout logging, the Ghost, the full XP and tier system, leaderboards, streaks, achievements, and 30 days of history. Start earning XP today and go Pro whenever you want the full arsenal.

What platforms is Novion on?

Novion is free to download on iPhone from the App Store and on Android from Google Play, and your account syncs across devices.

How do I start my first workout?

From the Home screen, tap Quick Start and choose Cardio or Workout. For strength training, tap Add Exercise to search by name or muscle group, then log each set with its weight and reps and mark it complete.

How do I log a meal?

Tap Log Meal on the Home screen or open the Nutrition tab. Search foods by name, scan a barcode, or point the camera at your plate and let AI identify it. Tap a food to add it to your meal with the right portion size.

What are Quick Actions?

Quick Actions are the four buttons on your Home screen: Quick Start begins a workout, Log Meal tracks food, Scan Food opens the AI camera, and Programs opens your training plans. They are the fastest way to act in the app.

How do I get around the app?

Five tabs along the bottom: Home is your hub, Train holds workouts, Nutrition holds meals and macros, Compete holds leaderboards and leagues, and You holds your stats and settings.

Will Novion actually help me stay consistent?

That's exactly why we built it. Most fitness apps fail because tracking feels like a chore, so Novion turns it into a game: streaks keep you coming back, XP pays every action, peers give you someone to beat, and tier promotions give you something to chase. It's fitness that finally sticks.

XP & Tiers

What is XP and how do I earn it?

XP is how Novion scores the work. Every workout logged and every meal tracked earns XP, and so does hitting your calorie, protein, and water goals, reaching streak milestones, and completing programs. Daily caps prevent gaming the system. Your Season XP sets your tier, and the XP Guide in your profile lists the exact earning rates.

What are the tiers (Bronze, Silver, Gold...)?

Tiers reflect your activity this Season. Bronze is 0 to 999 XP, Silver 1,000 to 4,999, Gold 5,000 to 14,999, Platinum 15,000 to 34,999, Diamond 35,000 to 74,999, and Star is 75,000 and up. Each tier has 10 levels. Your tier is built from your Season XP, carries through the Season, and resets when it ends. Your monthly league board is separate and refreshes every month.

What are Seasons?

Seasons run three times a year and roll over on January 1, May 1, and September 1. The first full Season began in September 2026, after the Founding Season. Your Season XP accumulates through the Season and sets your tier. When a Season ends, the final standings are archived, Season XP resets, and a new Season begins. Prestige carries over.

What is the difference between my tier and my plan?

Your tier (Bronze through Star) is earned through activity: workouts, meals, and streaks. It resets each Season and is about recognition. Your plan (Starter or Pro) is your subscription and decides which features you can use. They are completely independent. A Starter athlete can be Star tier, and a Pro athlete can be Bronze.

How do streaks work?

Complete a workout on consecutive days to build your streak. Streaks earn bonus XP at milestones: 3, 7, 14, 30, 60, 90, 180, and 365 days. Your current and longest streak show on your profile.

What is Prestige?

Prestige is a permanent count of how many times you have been promoted to a higher tier. Unlike Season XP, Prestige never resets. It is the long-term record of the work.

How does competition work?

We match you with lifters at your weight class and experience level, so the competition is winnable instead of a global ranking dominated by outliers. Your position updates after every session. Climb the leaderboard, earn your rank.

What is the Ghost?

Your Ghost is a pace partner built from your past self, running the line to the goal you set. Novion puts it beside you every session, so you always have someone to stay ahead of: the you who trained before. Stay ahead of your Ghost and you are getting better, by definition.

What do I earn as I climb?

Climb tiers and earn achievement badges. Workouts and meals earn XP toward your next promotion, up to daily caps, while streaks earn XP at milestones.

Plans & Features

What does Pro include?

Pro is $4.99 a week or $49.99 a year. You get unlimited workout and meal history, AI scanning for every meal, every day, up to 50 custom workouts, and an ad-free experience. The Ghost is free for every athlete, and Starter scanning is metered: 1 scan a day, plus up to 3 more by watching ads.

What do Starter and Pro include?

Starter: workout logging, meal tracking, the Ghost, the full XP and tier system, leaderboards, streaks, achievements, 30 days of history, and metered AI food scanning (1 scan a day, plus up to 3 more by watching ads). Pro: unlimited history, AI scanning for every meal, every day, up to 50 custom workouts, and no ads. Current prices are on the Subscription screen.

How do I upgrade my plan?

Go to You, then Settings, then Subscription, or tap any locked feature to see the upgrade options. Purchases go through the App Store or Google Play and are managed in your device settings.

Workouts

What are circuits and supersets?

A superset pairs two exercises performed back to back with minimal rest. A circuit groups three or more. To build one, select the exercises and tap the circuit icon. Types include Superset (2 exercises), Tri-set (3), Giant set (4 or more), Drop set (decreasing weight), EMOM (every minute on the minute), and AMRAP (as many reps as possible in a time limit).

What do the A1, A2, B1, B2 labels mean?

They are circuit group labels. Exercises sharing a letter, like A1 and A2, belong to the same circuit or superset: do one set of A1, then one set of A2, then rest before repeating. Different letters are separate groups.

What is the plate calculator?

For barbell exercises, a plate calculator chip appears next to the weight input. Tap it to see exactly which plates to load on each side of the bar. It accounts for standard plate sizes and the bar weight.

Nutrition

How does AI food scanning work, and how accurate is it?

Point the camera at your plate and Novion sends the photo to an AI model that identifies the foods and estimates calories and macros. Treat the result as an estimate, not a measurement: portion sizes and hidden ingredients are guesses, so check them and adjust before you save. The scanner cannot detect allergens and must never be used to manage a food allergy. The photo is kept only if you add the scan to a meal.

What are macros and why do they matter?

Macros are protein, carbohydrates, and fat. Novion sets your daily targets from your body stats and goals. Hitting your macro targets does more for body composition than counting calories alone. The colored bars on the Nutrition screen show your progress for the day.

What is my nutrition score?

Your nutrition score sums up how well you hit your daily calorie and macro targets. Tap the score on the Nutrition screen for a breakdown of which targets you met and which need attention.

How does water tracking work?

The water tracker on the Nutrition screen shows a daily hydration goal calculated from your body weight and activity level. Tap the quick-add buttons to log glasses through the day. Hitting your water goal earns XP.

What are Ghost Foods?

Ghost Foods are the foods you log most often. Novion remembers them and surfaces them in the Ghost tab of food search for one-tap re-logging. The more you log, the sharper the list gets.

Programs

What are programs?

Programs are structured multi-week training plans. They schedule your workouts, progress your weights, and keep your training balanced. Find them in the Train tab under Programs. Novion curated programs are included with Pro, and creator programs are bought individually.

Can I create my own program?

Yes. Go to Train, then Programs, and tap Create Custom Program. The builder walks you through the program details, the workouts for each day, and a review before you publish. Keep programs private or publish them for others.
